This tool can be used to encode and decode messages using a Rail Fence Cipher.
The Rail Fence cipher is a very basic transposition cipher. The user specifies a number of rows and the message is written in a zig-zag fashion across these rows, moving up and down between the top and bottom row like the rails of a fence. Ciphers similar to this were used as low-security military field ciphers during the nineteenth century.
