Save the Snowman!

Welcome to our holiday take on the classic hangman game. You've got to guess the word to save the melting snowman. This year, we’ve introduced several new features to make the game even more fun and interactive, whether you’re playing alone, with friends, or in the classroom.

The rules are simple. The hangman game will generate a puzzle from our database of hangman words. We even give you a little clue about the meaning. Your job is to guess the words by pressing the letter keys. You can guess letters using the buttons on the screen or the letters on your keyboard (either works). Each letter guess comes with a bit of risk. If you're right, the letter will show up on the list of letters below.

If you're wrong, ulp! A piece of the snowman will melt! Can you guess the word in time to save the snowman? With each correct guess, you bring the snowman closer to safety. But be careful—too many wrong guesses, and our frosty friend will melt completely!

We’ve also added the ability to create your own custom puzzles, which opens up a world of new possibilities. You can enter your own words and phrases, and even add hints to guide players along. Each word or phrase you enter will become its own separate puzzle, and if you enter multiple words, they will be displayed as a sequence of puzzles that the player can solve one at a time.

Once you’ve set up your custom puzzles, you can generate a unique link to share with others. Simply copy the link and paste it into an email, text message, or chat window to challenge your friends. The link will take them through your series of puzzles, one word at a time, in the exact order you set up. This feature is great for creating custom challenges, holiday-themed games, or even educational quizzes!

If you’re playing in person, select the “Pass and Play” mode for a local multiplayer experience. Just hit "Create It" after entering your words and pass the device to your friend or family member for their turn. No need to worry about printing or downloading files—your custom puzzles are ready to play right on the screen.

The custom puzzle creation and sharing features also make this version perfect for classroom use. Teachers can create custom word lists for spelling practice, vocabulary lessons, or holiday-themed word games. You can copy the link directly into a PowerPoint slide or a Word document for use in a lesson plan. Simply highlight the link text, right-click to copy, and paste it wherever you need it. Students can then click on the link during class to play through the puzzles you've created.
